HARRISBURG, Pa. — Patients at UPMC Children's at UPMC Harrisburg welcomed some super visitors.
UPMC and UPMC Pinnacle Foundation celebrated Superhero Day on Tuesday. Batman, Superman and other heroes joined players from the Harrisburg Senators to spend time with patients and staff members.
The event was meant to celebrate "health care superheroes" and help kids feel empowered to fight the illness or injury keeping them in the hospital.
"It's really our mission to empower our patients and our staff who are the real superheroes," said Matt Connors, with UPMC Pinnacle Foundation. "Whether they're battling an illness or an injury, the staff that care for them while they're in the hospital, it's really our job today and all days to make them feel empowered and recover and get back to life outside of the hospital."
The celebration included photo opportunities, goodie bags, therapy pets and a unit parade, as well as superhero-themed coloring pages made by Conestoga Valley School District Students.
